About

For 15 years, I have walked alongside individuals in their recovery journeys.

I am a licensed mental health counselor (MA #11447) specializing in addiction treatment.

I have specialized training and experience working with individuals coping with addiction and mental health challenges.

My approach is: empathetic, non-judgmental, person-centered, and solution-focused.

I have worked with unhoused individuals in shelters, and community mental health facilities. I have also conducted over 1,000 clinical hours hosting recovery groups. For the past four years, I have supported high achieving individuals address their alcohol use or addiction problems in individual counseling.

I carefully attend to each client by drawing out their unique strengths so that we can co-create a plan of care. I believe it is important to get to the root of the issue. We are not our addictive behaviors. Addiction is simply a means of coping. When dealing with substance use concerns, it is important to work with a treatment professional who has knowledge and experience treating  addiction.

theoretical alignment

My approach is person-centered. It takes vulnerability to admit that you have a problem, and to ask for help.

My approach is holistic. I believe that the physical body and mind are interconnected. When we use alcohol and drugs, we are  impacting our physical, mental and emotional health. Life is challenging and we may find ourselves attempting to self-sooth by using substances or engaging in behaviors that give us momentary relief if we do have other ways to cope. Chronic stress can lead to physical health problems such as chronic pain, fatigue, headaches, insomnia.

I believe it is important to evaluate the whole person and identify the core issues instead of treating symptoms. I utilize the disease model of addiction which considers one’s genetic, biological, neurological, and environmental factors.

I practice with a theoretical alignment based in Existential psychology. I follow Dr. Irvin D. Yalom’s theory regarding the four ultimate concerns of life;  freedom, isolation, and meaninglessness and death. I believe that our substance use is often at attempt to numb Existential discomfort when we are faced with the Ultimate Concerns in our daily lives.
