individual therapy for adults

Individual therapy is an opportunity for you to share what is on your mind. Therapy is a one-on-one experience between yourself and me- the licensed counselor. This is your space to feel heard. You may talk about symptoms that have been disrupting your life, your anxieties, fears, reliance on alcohol/drugs-you can talk about anything. My primary role is to listen. I do so with compassion and non-judgement. Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), art therapy techniques, and Mindfulness Meditation, I support my clients in finding relief from their distress. These therapeutic approaches can help you gain awareness, increase coping, and develop overall psychological development.

Ways I have supported adults in therapy

  • Reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression
  • Increase awareness about substance use
  • Reduce or stop reliance on drugs and alcohol
  • Set boundaries with people who use drugs and alcohol
  • Learn ways to cope with difficult emotions

Individual adolescent therapy is delivered with intentional care. At intake, I ensure that we gain a holistical understanding of the whole child. My primary focus is relationship building as this is essential for the child to feel self. As we build rapport, I invite the child to engage in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), art therapy, and Mindfulness Meditation.

Frequency Asked Questions

I will invite you to share with me why you have chosen to seek therapy. We will identify your therapeutic goals and create a treatment plan. This plan will act as a roadmap for your treatment, and it will contain your goals and objectives. Our first session is a time for us to get to know each other. It will take time for us to build rapport and trust- this session is just the beginning of our journey together.

Individual counseling and art therapy appointments are approximately 50 minutes. I also provide extended art therapy sessions up to 1 hour and 30 minutes. Group therapy sessions are 60 minutes.

Client’s typically chose to meet with me once a week. However, in some situations where clients are experiencing a high level of distress, it is appropriate for us to meet twice a week. As clients progress through therapy and complete their goals, it may not be necessary for us to meet as often. I see some clients on a monthly basis. Again, this is your treatment. You get to decide how frequently you attend.
